In GATE Civil Engineering counselling, seat allocation priority is: Institute preference → Category/reservation → GATE score → Branch preference → Counselling round. Fill choices carefully, as allotment depends mainly on score, rank, and reservation.

With an SC rank of 12,000, admission to Computer Science (CS) depends on the counselling authority, total seats, and reservation policies.

  • Top NITs/IIITs: Unlikely, as CSE usually requires much lower ranks.

  • Lower-tier NITs, GFTIs, or state colleges: You may have a good chance.

  • Consider other branches like ECE, IT, or EE as backups to secure admission.

A 2-year drop for NEET will not affect B.Tech placements. Companies consider your current degree, skills and performance, not past gaps. Focus on projects, internships and skill development during B.Tech to strengthen your profile and improve placement opportunities.

  • Payment: Yes, you must pay the admission fee if allotted a seat through ACAP to confirm it.

  • Note: ACAP is optional you can choose to participate if you want a seat in vacant colleges after CAP rounds.

With a KCET rank of 52,000 for BE Computer Science & Engineering, getting into top Karnataka colleges (like RVCE, PES, BMSCE, MSRIT) is highly unlikely, as these usually require ranks within top 1,000–3,000.

You can consider:

  • Lower-tier NITs/Private colleges in Karnataka

  • State colleges with available CSE seats in later counselling rounds

  • Other branches like ECE, IT, or Mechanical as backup.
