The two specializations are quite different from each other. Mechanical Engineering deals with building physical systems. AI on the other hand, builds systems reliant on codes. AI offers faster growth and high paying salaries. Mechanical Engineering also offers good salaries but it is more stable.

A B.Tech from a UGC recognised university is generally accepted for jobs abroad because most employers focus on the degree, skills, experience and the university's academic reputation. For engineering roles, every country has its own rules for licensing or professional registration, so requirements can differ. LPU offers an industry focused curriculum, internships and placement support, which can help in building a stronger profile. Before applying, always check the eligibility rules of the country and employer where the job is being offered.

Qualifying for LPUNEST is not mandatory later if admission has already been completed through another eligible admission route. LPUNEST is mainly used for admission in some programs and for scholarship consideration. If a student joins without taking LPUNEST under the applicable eligibility rules, there is usually no requirement to clear it afterward. Still, checking the latest eligibility and scholarship rules for the chosen programme before admission is the safest step, as requirements may differ by course.
