Industrial Design students at Chandigarh University usually face two MSTs in every semester. These Mid-Semester Tests act as checkpoints to evaluate how well students are grasping design principles and applying them in practice. The format is often unique compared to traditional exams—it may include creating concept sketches, building models, or defending a design idea in a viva. The first MST usually happens midway through the semester, while the second is held toward the later weeks before final exams. Marks obtained in MSTs are added to internal assessment, which carries weight in final results. The purpose of having two MSTs is t

Chandigarh University's Industrial Design course operates on a semester fee system, where each semester costs ?99,000. Over the span of four years (eight semesters), this makes up the tuition structure. In addition to tuition, students need to pay an examination fee of ?2,500 every semester and a one-time security deposit of ?2,000, which is refundable at the end of the course. This fee grants access to the university's specialised studios such as the Ceramic Studio, Prototyping Studio, and Digital Rendering Studio. CU also provides opportunities like internships, industrial visits, and live projects within this framework. Students can

From what I've seen, yes—CU's Industrial Design students can definitely move into UI/UX careers. The course isn't limited to just physical products like furniture or appliances. A big part of our training is also about understanding how users interact with digital platforms. Professors give us assignments where we design app interfaces, websites, or even smart device screens. We also learn about wireframing, usability testing, and how to make designs simple and user-friendly. Since UI/UX is in demand, many companies that visit campus for placements also hire for these roles. I know a senior who joined a tech startup as a UX designer

If you have just gave your boards and you enjoy designing, it really depends on what kind of design you enjoy more.Idustrial Design is about creating products-things people use every day, like furniture, gadgets or tools. To get AMN (Admission Merit Number) for B.Tech CSE at Chandigarh University, you first need to register for the Chandigarh University Common Entrance Test (CUCET) on the official website. Fill in your details, upload documents, and pay the fee. After appearing for the exam, your score and 12th marks will decide your AMN, which acts like your rank. Based on this number, seats are allotted during counselling. A better AMN increases your chance of getting CSE. After counselling, document verification, and fee payment, your admission is confirmed.

If you choose to stay in the hostel, then the overall cost increases. The hostel charges vary based on the type of accommodation you pick. For example, a shared non-AC room (5-seater) costs roughly around ?1.06 Lacs per year, whereas a single AC room can go up to about ?2.1 Lacs per year. So, if you include hostel fees, the total expense for all four years usual

Honestly, the teaching in Industrial Design at Chandigarh University is not just sitting in lectures and writing notes—it's quite hands-on. We do get the theoretical part, especially in the beginning, like understanding design concepts, materials, or human factors. But most of the time, professors want us to create and experiment. We spend a lot of time in studios, working on projects where we build models or try out ideas using software and prototyping tools. Sometimes it feels like a design lab more than a classroom, which I really enjoy. The practical exposure through live projects and industry-linked assignments keeps things inte
