Strathclyde University accepts a number of English language tests as proof of proficiency in English. Below we have given the list of English exams accepted by the University of Strathclyde along with their standard score requirements.
- IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall (no individual band less than 5.5)
- Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic (UKVI or non-UKVI): 60 overall, with a minimum of 59 in each component
- TOEFL (ibt): 73 overall, with the following minimum scores in each component: Listening: 17 Reading: 18 Speaking: 20 Writing: 18
- Cambridge First Certificate of English (FCE): 169 overall, with a minimum of 162 in each component

All non-native speakers of English must demonstrate English language proficiency and are required to submit TOEFL (79), IELTS (6.0), Cambridge English B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency (176), Duolingo (105), TOEFL Essential (9.0), PTE (53) scores, or ELS 112 level except citizens of Australia, Canada (except Quebec), United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, Guyana, and English-speaking countries of Africa and West Indies.

To be eligible for admission, all international applicants, regardless of citizenship, must show their proficiency in English by the following ways:
The student should be a citizen of an English speaking country and where the language of instruction is the same.
If the student has completed one year of full-time study in a four-year US college or university degree programme, then they are not required to submit TOEFL scores.

As such, there is no age limit set by Duolingo for taking the test. Anyone willing to take admission to undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate, or research programs can take the test. Candidates below the age of 13 years need parental or guardian consent for taking the test. Duolingo has joined hands with many global institutions which use the score obtained by the test takers for their admission procedure.
