Students are advised to start learning during the beginning of the academic year. Prepare a time table and follow it. Everyday study 2-3 hours. They must revise properly and practice previous year question papers. This will help them to avoid unnecessary stress.

Yes, IELTS gives scores like 6.0, 6.5, 7.0 etc. If your average is 6.25, it will be Band 6.5. But if you get a score of 6.75, then it becomes Band 7. So yes the overall score gets rounded off to the nearest and next band.

Yes, the band score system is same for both IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. But the Reading and Writing questions are little different, so sometimes scoring feels harder in Academic.

Most universities ask for IELTS Band 6.5 or 7.0 Some places may take Band 6, but they also want each section (like Writing, Speaking) not too low. Better to aim for Band 6.5 or more.

Your overall band is the average of all 4 section scores. If you get 6 in Reading, 7 in Listening, 6.5 in Writing, and 7 in Speaking, then average is 6.625, and it becomes Band 6.5. IELTS rounds it up or down.
