Not at all, the JEE Main exam is only the first step of the BTech admission process at the IITs; you then need to give the JEE Advanced exam as per your JEE Main cutoff percentile. After the entrance exam results are out, you also may have to give the GD or PI rounds for final seat allotment.
It is always better to go to the official college websites and read the detailed information about their BTech admission process.

The competitiveness depends on the exam that you're planning to give, but they are usually considered challenging and difficult to crack. For national-level exams like JEE Main and JEE Advanced, there is cutthroat competition for seats.
Further, there are state-level exams like MHT CET, KCET, Andhra Pradesh EAMCET, etc., and college-level exams like SRMJEEE, BITSAT, LPU NEST, etc., which also witness a great number of applications every year and are not a cakewalk at all. You need to prepare really well to score well and grab a seat at a decent college.
