Especially for their MBA programs, an XAT percentile of 60 might not be enough to get admission to the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun. XAT, CAT, and other entrance exam results are typically taken into account by UPES when admitting MBA candidates.
For general category students, the cutoff for UPES's MBA programme often falls between the 70th and 80th percentiles or above. Though it will probably be more challenging, you might still have a chance at some of their specialised or less competitive specialisations if your XAT percentile is 60. In addition, the final selection is heavily influenced by performance

For CAT 2024, the Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM Indore) has set distinct cutoff percentiles for several categories:

  • 90 percentile for General and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).
  • 80 percentile for Non-Creamy Layer Other Backward Classes (NC-OBC)
  • 60 percentile for Scheduled Castes (SC)
  • 45 percentile for persons with Disabilities (PwD) and Scheduled Tribes (ST)

For candidates to be eligible for the Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI), the next steps in the selection process must meet these cutoffs, which are the minimal CAT percentiles.

No, there is no minus marking in the exam giving candidates complete freedom to attempt as many questions as they can to maximize their scoring chances. However, it is advisable to read each question carefully before answering to avoid careless errors. This lack of penalty provides an excellent opportunity to make educated guesses when unsure about the correct answer.

MDSU Ajmer does not take any entrance exam for its MSc admissions. The admission in the programme takes place through the merit secured in the graduation exam. Candidates can take direct admission into the programme once they have given their graduation exams. Candidates who have been given provisional admission can finalise their admission into the university after completing the document verification and paying some amount of the tuition fee.
