TNEA random number is a 10-digit unique number that is used to break ties after all four tie-breaking rules have been applied. The TNEA merit list is determined based on a total mark of 200. In cases where multiple candidates achieve same marks in the common merit list, inter-se-merit among these candidates is determined based on the following priorities:
- Percentage of score in Mathematics
- Percentage of score in Physics
- Percentage of score in optional subject
- Percentage of total score in the 12th Standard Examination
- Date of birth (with preference given to the elder candidate)
- Random number (higher value will be given preference)

The TNEA random number is a 10 digit number allotted to the candidates randomly. It is used for tie-breaking, only if all other tie-breaking criteria fail.

UIET Chandigarh considers GATE score for admission to ME/ M.Tech courses. Candidates without GATE scores can also get admission provided they meet the eligibility criteria and there is availability of seats.
