The policies for the IIT JAM exam often ban candidates from wearing caps or hats when sitting in the exam hall. Making sure the examination is fair and secure is the purpose of this policy. No, GRE syllabus is same for students across the globe. No matter whether you are taking test in India or in USA, syllabus will be same. ETS (the test maker) does not create country-specific versions. All test takers face questions from three sections of GRE Exam, which are Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and AWA section.

You need to register for the GRE subject test separately. Each GRE Subject Test requires a separate registration and fee. Your GRE General Test registration can not be used for subject test. If you are planning to take more than one subject, you must register individually for each test date and subject.

There is no issue or effect in appearing GRE exam, due to your gap year. The Graduation Record Examinations have nothing to do with your gap year. However,   your university may decline your admission to a selected course. You need to check with the university itself.

No, you need to carry a valid passport at the GRE test centre. It is the one and only mandatory document for Indian students to take the exam. So, if your passport is expired or under renewal, then wait till you get the passport.
