The NIFT Criteria says, Candidates must not be more than 23 years of age as on October 1, 2017. However, candidates from Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribes category as well as Physically Handicapped Persons (PHP) can avail age relaxation of up to five years.
You can definitely try for other Private institutes because some of them don't have an age criteria. Do keep an eye on when are the admission forms coming out. They usually start around September.

For options for Fashion Design, you have NIFT in Gandhinagar and INIFD in Ahmedabad. NIFT is obviously better. The selection is done by a central system since it is a government institute. You will have to fill the admission form which comes out in November-December. Also, keep an eye out for other private institutes as well like INIFD, GIFT, etc. because getting into NIFT is not that easy. Do fill all the forms you can and keep a safe amount of backup. Google all the colleges that are available and make it a point you visit the institutes you are applying for because infrastructure is important for design courses. Yet, tell

Yes, you can join fashion design course once you complete 10+2.
B.Sc in fashion design is an undergraduate fashion designing course that covers the study of creating original designs in garments, footwear, luggage, jewelry, etc.
The course duration is 3-years. The eligibility is:
1) Should have passed 10+2 or equivalent and with a minimum of 50% (in some reputed institutions).
2) Some reputed colleges conduct entrance exams also.
