Students seeking admission to Food Technology are required to appear and secure a valid score in various national, state or university-level entrance exams. Andhra Pradesh EAMCET, GATE, and Andhra Pradesh PGECET are the main accepting entrance exams in top Food Technology colleges in AP.

There are about 10+ best Food Technology colleges in Andhra Pradesh. Of these, colleges are owned by public/government organisations and 4 colleges are privately owned. AP EAMCET, GATE, and AP PGECET are the main accepting entrance exams in top Food Technology colleges in Andhra Pradesh. Vignan's Foundation for Science, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, GITAM School of Technology, JNTUA College of Engineering, GITAM School of Science, Dr. NTR College of Food Science and Technology, etc. are some of the popular BTech in Food Technology colleges in Andhra Pradesh.

It vary from college to college but in most cases candidate must hold a B.E./B.Tech/ M.Sc degree in a relevant discipline like Food Science, Food Technology, Dairy Engineering, Agriculture Bachelor's degree in any of the following discipline like Food Process Technology/Home Science, Food Science and Nutrition/Food Science and Quality Control/Food Process Engineering /Food Processing Technology / Post Harvest Technology, Industrial & Applied Microbiology, Chemistry or equivalent. Minimum percentage acceptable for admission is 50% in most of the institutes in India.

College of Fish Nutrition and Food Technology, TNJFU has below criteria for taking admissions to it's various courses:
CoursesEligibility
B.E. / B.TechCandidate must have passed VIII, IX, X, XI & XII Std. from schools situated in Tamil Nadu.
Tamil Nadu native candidate who have passed any of the VIII, IX, X, XI & XII Std. or their equivalent exam from schools situated outside Tamil Nadu can also apply. They should produce Original Nativity Certificate.
Children of Central Government Employees, irrespective of their nativity, provided their parents or guardians (only if both parents are not alive) have been serving in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past five years can be eligible to apply.
Sons & daughters of All India service Tamil Nadu cadre officers are eligible to apply. A Self declaration from the parent in this regard is to be produced.
Children of employees in the Public Sector or Government recognised institutions had been working in their organisations for the past five years are also eligible, irrespective of their domicile.
Other State candidates who have studied VIII, IX, X, XI and XII Std. in Tamil Nadu are eligible to apply.
