As per UGC & AICTE Guidelines a Diploma is a class 12 Month Course, if the Term Diploma is used it should only be offered by an institute which is accredited by AICTE, an institute which is not having AICTE accreditation cannot offer a Diploma course, Hence many institutes which does not full fill the above criteria offer Certificate Courses, a Certificate Course is a 11 Month Course. You should definitely go with this course as doing Diploma doesn't land you with good job opportunities, so you should do a degree course followed by a Diploma in animation.
