If you cleared the cutoff with a bad score of 38 or 39 for the GATE examination. You can look for other options as mentioned below:

·       You can check the cutoff norms for a variety of institutions, as each institution has its own set of criteria for cutoff scores. For some institutions, even a cutoff of 38 and 29 could be considered for admissions. Make sure to do a complete analysis of the institution you are applying to and the cutoff score they accept.

·     Try applying for both top-ranked and lower-ranked institutions if you have a poor score to increase your chances of admission.

·       While a good GATE score is vital for admissions, it's not the only criterion that can be considered by institutions; many also look at your academic record, employment experience, general aptitude and personality. Therefore, to boost your chances, try highlighting these areas.

·       You can also reconsider re-taking the GATE examination again next year with better focus and preparation.

Indian Institute of Technology Ropar has offered several courses for students aspiring to get admission to the Masters Programme.  IIT Ropar accepts GATE COAP scores for admission to MTech programmes.

According to the IIT Ropar MTech cutoff 2024, M.Tech. in Computer Science Engineering and M.Tech. in Artificial Intelligence have become the most competitive specialisations, with a score of 740 in both for General AI category students.  Likewise, M.Tech. in Chemical Engineering was the least competitive course, with a Round 3 cutoff of 345 for General AI students.

Furthermore, in the IIT Ropar Round 3 cutoff 2024, the CSE Round 1, 2, and 3 cutoff scores were 764, 749, and 740, respectively, for the General AI category. Similarly, for the OBC category, the CSE Round stood at 640, 641, and 708, respectively.

IIT Guwahati will release the GATE 2026 exam pattern on the official website.
