In case there are any wrong details on the admit card, candidates must immediately inform their zonal center, as admit cards with unclear information will not be allowed. The GATE admit card will be made available few days before the exam date. Candidates can download the admit card using their enrollment ID and password. The GATE hall ticket contains details regarding the exam and the candidate, along with the branch-wise exam date. It is mandatory to carry the GATE admit card in the examination hall, as it is required for entry.

There are 65 questions asked for 100 marks in GATE exam. General aptitude questions are asked for 15 marks, Engineering mathematics in some paper codes for 13 marks and the rest 72 marks from the chosen subject.
In some paper codes engineering mathematics is excluded. In such case, the general aptitude section carries 15 mark and the subject-specific section carries 85 marks.

IIT Guwahati has released the GATE 2026 syllabus. The syllabus is available on the official website- gate2026.itg.ac.in. As per the updated GATE MTech syllabus 2026, there are no changes are made.

Yes, candidates who are appearing in two GATE papers must pay the fees of the two selected papers. Candidates will have to pay the fees at the time of filling GATE application form. Candidates can select any two papers out of the allowed combinations as per their qualifying degree of examination.

Candidates can apply for a maximum of two papers. Candidates must choose two papers from the given set of combinations as per two paper combinations of the 30 papers listed in the GATE information brochure or GATE website.
The candidates should appear in papers appropriate to the discipline of their qualifying degree.

No, Physical calculators are not allowed during the GATE examination.
Candidates will be provided with an on-screen virtual scientific calculator during the online GATE examination. Candidates must know that any kind of electronic gadget is prohibited on the exam premises. GATE Calculator is a specially designed virtual calculator that is provided during the GATE examination to help candidates with their complex calculations.

Yes, Candidates will be given a correction window to change/ modify the already filled details in GATE application form. As per the GATE 2026 official notification, the last date to apply is November 6. The form correction window mainly remains open for three days.
Candidates can change the subjects for an additional fee during the correction window. They can add or change the second paper only once. Candidates will not be able to edit any details after the correction window is closed. The final details will be printed on the admit card.
