When it comes to admissions to BTech programs, Gopalan College of Engineering and Management (GCEM) typically holds two to three rounds of counseling for various quotas.

The rounds of counseling are:

1. Karnataka CET Counseling: Offered to CET-qualified candidates based on their ranks by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). There are two or three rounds of group counseling.

2. COMEDK Counseling: For COMEDK-qualified students, the COMEDK consortium offers 1-2 rounds of counseling.

3. Management Quota Counseling: For seats that remain unfilled following CET/COMEDK rounds, GCEM offers independent management quota counseling. For this, qualified students must apply directly to GCEM. Usually, two rounds are played.

4. Lateral Entry Counseling: One round to assign seats for diploma-completion holders starting their BTech programme in the second year straight.

If some seats are still available after the admissions deadline, spot admission rounds might occasionally be held as well.  To summarize, taking into account all quotas, Gopalan CEM may conduct five to six counseling rounds for BTech admissions, covering KEA, COMEDK, management, and lateral entry channels.
