Automotive Engineering is a sub-branch of vehicle engineering. It can also be considered as a sub-branch of mechanical engineering that has split from the main branch focusing on the automotive field of study. Automobile engineering focuses on the cars. It specifically deals with the designing of cars, operations in production of cars, designing of engines and fuel management. Thus, automobile engineering can be considered as a sub branch of automotive engineering. However, generally both the branches are used interchangeably to denote a branch dealing with motor vehicles. A lot of people are confused about the automotive and automobile engineering. They both tend to be interrelated and therefore, most often are used interchangeably. However, few consider that automobile engineering focuses more on the cars, whereas automotive engineering can be defined as an umbrella term to denote a branch that deals with all motor vehicles. Therefore, based on this subtle difference, one can differentiate the two. Still, one must remember that in common usage the terms are used interchangeably.

A student who has completed his/her 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Biology can opt for the same. A minimum of 50% are mandatory in Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually in 10+2 to take admission. It is a full-time 4-year Bachelor's degree course. So, it would include the reading of at least 4 national dailies and keeping par with the news related to the economy, international developments, and society. You must also read related magazines and about the most influential people in this field.
2. Writing skills:
Writing skills are utmost important for this field. You can practice by writing small notes on the articles you read and by developing your opinion and perception.
3. Study topics:
There are various fields of journalism like Advertising, film-making, Public Relations, Event Management, Radio, Photojournalism, etc., so one should have a fair idea of the syllabus and themes that are pivotal to these subjects.
4. Analytical and Comprehensive skills:
Many institutions test their students on the basis of reasoning ability, analytical and comprehensive skills. You must give attention to this area for this you may go for the previous year question papers.
