HIMT Chennai Eligibility

The primary eligibility requirements for admissions to BSc courses at HIMT Chennai are that candidates must complete their Class 12 from the PCM stream with at least an aggregate of 60% and 50% in English at the Class 10 & 12 levels. Additionally, for the admission process, the college accepts valid IMU CET scores. There are different eligibility requirements too, that candidates must follow before getting admission, such as candidates' age should be: General: 27 years, OBC (NCL): 30 years, SC/ST: 32 years (from the commencement of the academic session).

• Candidates must be medically fit, including eyesight and hearing, as prescribed in the Merchant Shipping (Medical examination) rules, 2000, and need to produce a certificate of medical fitness issued by a D.G. Shipping Approved Doctor.

Candidates can get admission to the lateral BTech course at HIMT Chennai after completing the eligibility requirements. Check out the eligibility criteria required to get lateral entry in the BTech course:

First year of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering course with an aggregate of 60%

OR

Three-year engineering Diploma in Marine/ Mechanical /Electrical/ Electrical & Electronics,  from the colleges approved by AICTE or the State Board of Technical Education with a minimum of 55% of aggregate marks in the last year of the Diploma course.

OR

Four-year Diploma in Shipbuilding Engineering from the colleges approved by AICTE or the State Board of Technical Education with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in the last year of the Diploma course.

OR

First-year training from the Alternate Training Scheme, approved by D.G. Shipping (This will not apply to MERI)

To be eligible for admission to the B Tech programme at HIMT College (Hindustan Institute of Maritime Training), candidates must meet certain criteria. The eligibility criteria are as follows :-

• Educational Qualifications: - Candidates must have completed their 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognised board or university with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Additionally, candidates should have obtained a minimum aggregate score of 60% in these subjects.
• Entrance Exam:-   Applicants seeking admission to the B Tech programme must show up for an entrance exam. The college accepts results from a number of state- and national-level entrance exams, including VITEEE, BITSAT and JEE Main.
• Counseling Process:   After qualifying in the entrance exam, candidates need to participate in the counseling process conducted by HIMT College. During counseling, candidates will be allotted seats based on their merit ranks and availability of seats .
• Document Verification:-  Candidates need to submit all necessary documents during the admission process for verification purposes. These  include mark sheets,   certificates, identity proof,   passport-sized photographs  etc.
