It's because it's a research-based advanced qualification. It used to bridge the gap between a master's and a PhD course. It was treated as a Mini-PhD earlier.

I feel it's not anymore. The NEP 2020 no longer recognizes the MPhil degree. This means it's not worth pursuing for academic or research-based careers. You can go for a MPhil instead.

Though if you completed or enrolled in an MPhil before 2023, the degree remains valid.

To be honest, it has changed drastically. Since the course has been discontinued under the NEP 2020, the degree is no longer valid in India or in many other countries. Though it is still valid in many countries for specific, specialised areas like Philosophy

I would suggest that you go for a PhD if you want a research-based degree, which is more relevant in the present.

Yes, Indian Institute of Psychology and Research does offer a small fee relaxation to candidates who belong to the state of Karnataka. However, candidates only get a fee concession in the general BA course fees at Indian Institute of Psychology and Research. The BA (hons) course fees is the same for Karnataka candidates and non Karnataka candidates.

There are no mandatory entrance exams listed in the eligibility criteria for Indian Institute of Psychology and Research BA course. The Indian Institute of Psychology and Research course admissions are merit-based, taking into account the Class 12 board exam results of a candidate.

Thus, candidates who have received their Class 12 board exam result can apply directly for BA admissions.
