To get good band scores in IELTS Reading test, applicants should prepare well and practice a lot. Some tips to prepare for IELTS Reading module includes:

  • Understand the pattern of the Reading module and take IELTS Reading mock test to understand where the applicant stands.
  • Once applicants take the IELTS Reading mock test, create a schedule.

The minimum IELTS Score for Canada PR application is overall 6.0 band. It means your score in any section of exam should not be less than 6.0 band. Your IELTS score will be converted to CLB score to access your application. This process is slightly different than Canada Study Visa process.

With 8777 IELTS score; a candidate can reach CLB 9 level. This will give an additional 82-point advantage to the candidate as compared to the candidate who is on CLB 8 level.

  • 32 points on the language ability

  • 50 points on Skill Transferability and Foreign Work Experience (considering two or more post-secondary programme credentials and above 3 years of foreign work experience)

Although achieving an 8777 on the IELTS test is not a prerequisite because other variables are taken into account when determining your CRS score, doing well on the test will be beneficial. Moreover, you have control over your IELTS score. Your age cannot be changed

There are multiple factors that determine your Canada PR score. IELTS is one of those factors. Although obtaining a high score in this exam is not mandatory, if you obtain a good score on IELTS, your overall score for Canada PR increases. This is so because language proficiency is considered significant in the immigration procedure. Besides, the IELTS score is something that you can work on and use to score well. Therefore, a higher language score will increase your probability of getting selected during the immigration process.

International students coming from non-English-speaking countries, such as India, need to prove their language proficiency, although below are some exceptions mentioned: 

International students may request for exemptions or test waiver under the following conditions:

Global Business Track

Business Management Track

Students have studied for a minimum of four years, full-time, in a high school, college, or university in the US or another English-speaking country, as listed in the first bullet point below. Please include a transcript to show four years of study.

Students have studied in an English-taught programme for a minimum of two consecutive years, full-time, in a high school or university (ex: International Baccalaureate, High school diploma, A level). Please include a transcript to show two years of study.

Students have earned a secondary school Diploma from a college or university in the US or another English-speaking country, as listed in the first bullet point. Please submit transcripts showing the degree awarded.

Students have earned a secondary school Diploma with all courses taught in English (ex: International Baccalaureate, High school diploma, A level). Please submit transcripts showing the degree awarded.

If the students' mother tongue is English, and Students are from the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, or English-speaking Canada.

Students have completed AIEP, Level 107, and earned grades of A- or higher in the two core subjects. Please submit transcripts showing completion of AIEP and grades earned. Students will be required to complete English X433B and X433C in addition to Studentsr certificate programme courses.
