Indian Institute of Art and Design has not mentioned clearly about the minimum marks required to appear for its entrance exam but, it is generally 50 percent in all design institutes.

Yes if you wish to drop a year for IIAD's preparation, you can go ahead with the plan. Also, don't just make IIAD your goal, do consider and prepare for other design exams too.
