The shortlisting criteria for interviews of IIMA or IIM B is based on CAT score, class 10th, class 12th, graduation scores and work experience. However, the weightage given to these parameters is different for both IIMs and also depend on your category and academic diversity. The call and final admission will depend on your CAT score and interview.

Dear aspirant,
IIM-A is the numero uno B-School in India and only the creme-de-la-creme make it. Your profile is good, though your class 10th marks can lead to a rejection. That said, if you have work experience or extracurricular excellence, you may have an outside chance. Traditionally, the CAT cut-off for IIM A is around 99.6 hence you need to check for that. Also, if not IIM A, your profile is excellent for several other top B-Schools. All the best.

Hi Kishan,
It's not the case, however, being from a good college would mean that you have already been in the best environments and have learned quite a lot from your time there.

Dear Rahul,
You will have to give CAT exam, only then you will get to know your chances of getting selected for IIM, Ahemdabad. For clearing CAT, you need to be smart, not knowledgeable, and according to me, Indian Army officers are always more than smart. There were many army officers who joined the army and continued their studies too and retired from higher posts. Solve more and more CAT papers and do give IQ tests (Standford Binet or Culture ), giving IQ tests will help you overcome all your fears.

PGP is for people with no work experience or with work experience of a few years only. It is Masters in management equivalent according to international standards. While PGPX is an executive MBA which admits students with higher work experience & is equivalent to an actual MBA degree internationally.

Difficult as your academics are tad bit below average with respect to the requirements of IIM-Ahmedabad. Never the less, I would suggest you to give your best in CAT. You never know what will happen!
