The admission to MTech at IIT Jammu is entrance-based. Candidates are required to appear for GATE exam and secure a good score. A cutoff list is then released to declare the minimum score required for selection. Candidates who meet the cutoff score become eligible for participation in COAP counselling. During counselling, the seat allotment process is carried out. The admission cycle for MTech commences at IIT Jammu with GATE registrations. Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee has extended the GATE 2025 application submission date with extended fees. Aspirants shall ensure that they submit their forms on or before the prescribed deadline to become eligible to sit for the entrance examination.

IIT Jammu seat allotment process is carried out based on applicants JEE Main qualification and JEE Advanced scores. The Indian Institute of Technology, Jammu follows the reservation policy as prescribed by the Government of India for the following categories:
