The admission to MTech at IIT Jammu is entrance-based. Candidates are required to appear for GATE exam and secure a good score. A cutoff list is then released to declare the minimum score required for selection. Candidates who meet the cutoff score become eligible for participation in COAP counselling. During counselling, the seat allotment process is carried out. The candidates who get a seat in IIT Jammu MTech courses shall report at the institute to submit important documents and pay the admission fee amount.

The admission cycle for MTech commences at IIT Jammu with GATE registrations. Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee has extended the GATE 2025 application submission date with extended fees. Aspirants shall ensure that they submit their forms on or before the prescribed deadline to become eligible to sit for the entrance examination.

To get into MTech at IIT Jammu, aspirants must fulfil the prescribed eligibility requirements. Aspirants with a valid bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science (four-year course) or a master's degree in Science with marks not below the specified minimum can apply. Apart from this, for selection, candidates also need to have a valid GATE score and perform well in the selection rounds.

The total fee for IIT Jammu MTech programmes is cumulative of multiple components, such as hostel fee, security deposit, tuition fee, etc. Some of the fee components are one-time chargeable, while some have to be paid annually/semesterly. To get a seat in a MTech course of IIT Jammu, the aspirants need to have a valid GATE score. A cutoff list is then published indicating the minimum exam score required for a candidate to become eligible for admission. Candidates who meet the cutoff score have to participate in COAP counselling. There is no other provisio for admission to MTech programmes of IIT Jammu.

The NIRF 2024 rankings are out. In the Engineering category, IIT Jammu has secured the #62 spot. Its ranking has improved from last year. In 2023, the institute was ranked #67 in the Engineering category.

IIT Jammu seat allotment process is carried out based on applicants JEE Main qualification and JEE Advanced scores. The Indian Institute of Technology, Jammu follows the reservation policy as prescribed by the Government of India for the following categories:

  • SC
  • ST
  • OBC-NCL
  • EWS
  • Persons with Disability (PwD)

For admission to a BTech course at IIT Jammu, the aspirants need to appear for JEE Main and JEE Advanced examination conducted by NTA. Following the entrance test, the cutoff list is published by the authorities. Candidates who meet the cutoff score need to participate in the JoSAA counselling.
