IIT Jammu offers seats to candidates based on their entrance exam scores. Admission to BTech and M.Tech is based on JEE advanced and GATE scores, respectively. The selection for MSc programmes is based on IIT JAM score. Candidates need to pass any of the accepted exam for PhD. Hence, direct admission is not possible for UG, PG and PhD courses.

Aspirants must pass Master's degree in Engineering/Technology or a Master's degree by Research in Engineering /Technology to apply for PhD programme at IIT Jammu.
Candidates who have completed a four-year UG degree with GATE score or Master's degree in Science (with a good academic record) and a valid GATE / UGC-CSIR NET (JRF or LS) /GPAT/ NBHM/ ICMR (JS) / ICAR (JS) or equivalent qualification can also apply.

Aspirants must pass Class 12 with a minimum of 75% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics to apply for BTech programme at IIT Jammu. Candidates must also pass JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced to get a seat in the BTech programme.

IIT Jammu accepts the JEE Advanced entrance exam for BTech admission. For the students belonging to the General AI quota, the cutoff ranks ranged between 5988 and 18156 for BTech admission across multiple specialisations. For the category-wise cutoff range, refer to the table below:

Admissions to the different BTech, BSc, M.Tech and MSc courses of Indian Institute of Technology Jammu will depend on entrance exam scores such as JEE Mains, GATE, JEE Advanced, etc. But it is difficult to say whether getting into IIIT Jammu is tough or easy and will depend on the:
- Candidate's level of preparation
- Competition
- Available seats
- Exam Difficulty
As well as a number of other factors that will not be discussed here.

The general documents required for IIT Jammu admissions are as shown here:
- Phone number & email ID
- Academic details related to Class 12th and Class 10th Cleared exams
- Scanned copies of certificates of the category of students
- Scanned copies of the photograph and signature of students as per the specifications given by NTA
- Credit card/ Debit card/ UPI details for the fee payment of the application.
- Entrance Exam score card (JEE Mains, GATE, etc.)
While PG courses such as M.Tech also requires Graduation degree or marksheet.

IIT Jammu offers a four-year BTech programme across eight specialisations. These are as follows:
- Computer Science and Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Materials Engineering
- Mathematics and Computing
- Electrical Engineering
Students must complete the course eligibility and go through the required exams and counselling process for admissions.

The different course eligibility for BTech and M.Tech at Indian Institute of Technology Jammu admissions is as shown here:
- BTech: Pass Class 10 & Class 12 with a minimum score of 75% (65% for SC/ST/PwD candidates) in subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Maths.
- MTech: Graduate from a recognised University (in a relevant degree) with a minimum score of 65% (60% for reserved categories) or a CGPA of 6.5 (6 for reserved) out of 10.
Interested candidates must know their course eligibility for their preferred course and apply accordingly.

IIT Jammu total tuition fee for the BTech course is INR 8 lakh. The total tuition fee for the M.Tech course is INR 80,000. The fee for the MSc course is INR 26,000. Expensive or not, depends on person to person. Those students who find the fee expensive must apply for the scholarships.
