IIT Mandi course admissions are entrance-based. Those seeking admission to BTech and MTech must register for JEE Main/ JEE Advanced/ GATE/ IIT JAM respectively. Also, each course has its eligibility criteria and it is compulsory to fulfil these criteria.

The top recruiters of Indian Institute of Technology Mandi include Sprinklr, Microsoft, Amazon, Adobe, Indeed, Uber, Goldman Sachs, Flipkart, Siemens, Samsung Research Institute Bangalore, Schrodinger, Walmart, Zomato, Texas Instruments, ODE, Arista Networks, Yum, Radisys, Accenture, Nucleus Software, Western Digital, and Nohara Holdings, etc. So far, total of 249 students has been placed out of which 75 were pre-placement offers.

During IIT Mandi placements 2023, the highest package offered was INR 60 LPA whereas the highest package offered during IIT Ropar placements was INR 50 LPA. Moreover, the average package offered during IIT Mandi placements 2023 was INR 25.23 LPA whereas the average package offered at IIT Ropar was INR 18.80 LPA. Both the colleges has same eligibility criteria and accepts same entrance exam. So, based on the facts mentioned above, IIT Mandi's the highest package and average package was better this year.

The eligibility criteria for the Civil Engineering programme at IIT Mandi is quite stringent and requires candidates to have a strong academic background. IIT Mandi has a beautiful location and is located on mountains and hills. Placements: placement season started in early August 2021. Students are provided with placement training as well. Around 70%-80% of students got placed in 2021.

IIT Mandi has been ranked 31st by NIRF for B.Tech Mechanical engineering amongst the top engineering colleges in the country. While IIT Tirupati and IIT Dharwad were recently established and haven't been ranked yet by NIRF. On the other hand IIT Dhanbad, previously known as ISM is ranked 12th according to NIRF for engineering physics.
