I don't know if it's an IIT thing or an MHRD thing but a person who spends most of his/her day doing really good projects has little time to prepare for exams like GATE and are usually not the type

Yes, it is compulsory to clear cutoff of every subject to clear JEE advance. You cannot qualify JEE advance with the help of one or two subjects. The cutoff of every subject is class 12-14 marks per subject, which can vary depending on the cutoff.

No, you can get admitted to IIT if you clear JEE Advanced and You get to sit in Advanced only if you clear Mains. If you failed to get in Mains, you will not be able to move further in the process.

Hello, goal for getting admission in IIT. First, you need to clear JEE Mains, and then you need to get an AIR under 10000 in JEE Advanced to get admission in IIT.
