SRM University is an autonomous private institute. The college is approved by AICTE and AIU. The college is ranked 39th according to Outlook rankings. The university college Undergraduate courses and postgraduate courses to its students. The admission is given based on an entrance exam. In India, the possibility of a PhD holder without a B.Ed/M.Ed securing a high-school teacher job is complex and depends on several factors:

Challenges:

• Mandatory requirements: Most government and private schools in India mandate a B.Ed/M.Ed degree as a minimum qualification for high-school teachers. This requirement stems from a focus on ensuring teachers possess both subject knowledge and pedagogical skills.
• Teacher Eligibility Tests (TETs): Centralized Teacher Eligibility Tests (CTET) and State Level Teacher Eligibility Tests (STET) are mandatory for government school teacher positions. While PhD holders may possess subject expertise,  they might not have undergone specific preparation for these tests,  which typically emphasize pedagogical skills.

However, there are exceptions and avenues to consider:

• Private schools: Some private schools,  especially those focused on specialised subjects or catering to elite student groups,  may consider exceptional PhD candidates based on their subject expertise and research accomplishments. This is particularly true for niche subjects where qualified B.Ed/M.Ed candidates might be scarce.
• Guest lectures/consultancy roles: While not full-time teacher positions,  some schools may invite PhD holders to deliver guest lectures,  conduct workshops,  or consult on specific subject areas. This can be a rewarding way to share their knowledge and contribute to student learning.
• Research and development roles: Schools with an active focus on research and development activities may find a role for PhD holders in areas like curriculum development,  educational technology integration,  or research projects.

For admission to the four-year B.Tech degree course, students have to qualify in Andhra Pradesh Engineering, Agricultural Sciences and Medical Common Entrance Test (AP-EAMCET). Admissions under Convener Quota (70% of intake in each branch): Candidate must have passed the Intermediate examination from a recognised board with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as main subjects. Admissions are granted on the basis of the rank in AP-EAMCET provided the candidates should satisfy local/non-local status requirement laid down by the Andhra Pradesh Educational institutions. Admissions under Category ‘B’ (30% of intake in each branch): The seats will be filled either on the basis of rank obtained in AP-EAMCET with not less than 50% in aggregate or in group subjects (Maths, Physics and Chemistry) in 10+2.
