You don't get an immediate admission to the Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (IPGMER) in the MBBS course. The admissions to MBBS courses are done based on the NEET-UG (pronounced NEET for undergraduate courses) score. There is no provision for direct admission.

For admission into Postgraduate (MD/MS) courses, one should qualify in NEET-PG and go through counseling.

MBBS or MD/MS direct admissions at IPGMER strictly follow the centralized entrance examination system (NEET-UG and NEET-PG) without exception.

The Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (IPGMER) does not grant a full scholarship to earn an MBBS or MD/MS in postgraduate medical courses. Students may obtain government-sponsored scholarships based on merit, financial need, or social category (SC/ST).

IPGMER does not sponsor individuals to study fully in higher education and there are a lot of scholarships offered from the state and central governments or financial assistance programs, like:

Merit-awaiting Scholarships in the Education of a Young Woman.

Scholarships for SC/ST/OBC students from Government.

Financial grants to medical students from private foundation

The Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (IPGMER) does not have its own formal placement cell, unlike engineering or management colleges, being concentrated solely on the education and training of its students in the field of medicine. Practically all MBBS students pursue an internship at one or another of the affiliated hospitals such as SSKM Hospital before taking further studies in postgraduate (MD/MS) or even more specialised areas.

The salary packages are also great. Specialists in postgraduate education (MD/MS) and specialists in branches like surgery, radiology, etc. earn higher salaries, especially in privat

The Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (IPGMER) places greater emphasis on the quality of education and clinical training rather than placement-oriented programs. Being a government-neighbor based institute, its placement procedure is very different from other regular degree programs.

Internships and postgraduate opportunities: The students of IPGMER pursue internship courses mainly in SSKM Hospital or internship in their affiliated hospitals. Again, the postgraduate opportunities: Most of the MBBS graduates tend to take specialisation (MD/MS) in either IPGMER or other reputed institutions, which boost career oppo

Absolutely not. You do not qualify for any institute of post graduate medical education and research IPGMER for undergraduate courses in medicine or MBBS courses without qualifying in the NEET-UG exam.

NEET-UG basically is the tick mark of all the medical private and government affiliated colleges in India, the same thing happens in IPGMER. Now, if you want to seek admission to MBBS courses on any medical college, clearing the NEET is not optional but a must and must participate in the counseling process.
