Admission to this Institute is moderately competitive and this is evidenced by the number of students joining the Institute with requisite admission requirements. Fresh candidates who intend to join B.E. programs have to qualify through KCET or COMEDK. As for the KCET cutoff the first year a cutoff in the ranks 25000-75000 depending on the number of seats available for each branch there are 120 seats in total. Being eligible (45% in PCM for the general category).

With regards to declaring the results of Semester examinations: Jnana Vikas Institute of Technology (JVIT) declared the result within 30- 45 days of completion of examinations. Exam schedule: Odd semester- (November December) Even semester- (April- May). Result declaration timeline: The Nairobi Institute of Technology has opened for the following times; January-February odd semester, and June - July even semester.
