Kolkata's growing real estate and hospitality sectors offer decent opportunities for interior designers. Building a strong portfolio during college significantly helps in getting good placements.

A BDes - Bachelor of Design, is a 4-year full-time degree programme that provides thorough knowledge of design theory, materials, spatial planning and project coordination. Compared to a Diploma course which is 1-3 years and focused more on the practical aspect, degree holders enjoy better career prospects and are more likely to command higher starting salaries. Wherever possible, a full degree is a better long-term investment, given the time and money involved.
