1) Admission Procedure:
To pursue interior design course you need to first clear plus two.
There are several types of courses available. To join the course of your interest, you need to appear in the entrance exam and on the basis of the score and interview thereafter the admission will take place.

-National Entrance Examination for Design (NEED)
-NID Entrance Test
-NIFT Entrance Exam
-School of Fashion Technology (SOFT) Entrance Exam

In India, there are three main undergraduate education formats for Interior Designing:
Bachelors Degree courses
Diploma courses
Certificate courses
1) Bachelors Degree courses :
BA Interior Design- Duration is 3 years
Bachelor of Architecture Interior Design- Duration is 5 years
Bachelor of Interior Design- Duration is 5 years (CEPT course)
BA Interior Architecture and Design- Duration is 3 years
Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) Interior Design- Duration is 4 years
B.Sc. Interior Design- Duration is 3 year
2) Diploma courses :
Diploma in Interior Design
Diploma in Interior Design and Architecture
3) Certificate courses :
Certificate in Interior Design
Certificate in Interior Design and Decoration
Various job opportunities exist in front of interior design professionals. They may either choose to work under supervised setup (Design studios & Interior design firms) or work independently. When it comes to Government sector jobs, Municipal Corporations, PWDs and Town Planning Departments are known to hire interior design professionals. They may also become part of Government schemes related to housing & relocation of people.
This profession also offers self employment opportunities. Interior design field has a rewarding marketing sector associated with it. Using ones knowledge & skills, one may also market interior design goods and products such as decorative items, furniture, utility products etc.

After Diploma in Interior Designing, you are not eligible for IAS examination / KAS examination because minimum eligibility is Graduation in any subject from a recognised institute / university.
