Ghani Khan Choudhury Institute of Engineering and Technology, also known as GKCIET was established in the year 2010 at Malda, West Bengal.

It is a centrally funded technical academy under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. 

At present, GKCIET hosts almost 7 different certification courses for those who have passed 10th or equivalent examination. The admissions are based on the All India Entrance Test that is conducted across various centers.

The institute further offers admission to the Diploma course. To be eligible for admission, a candidate must either pass 10+2 examination or a relevant certification course from GKCIET. Admissions are concluded purely on the basis of merit in qualifying examination.

GKCIET also offers B.Tech course under 3 specializations. To be eligible for admissions, a candidate must have passed Diploma or equivalent course from any recognised academy.

In general, universities may have specific guidelines for candidates who have already been allocated a seat but wish to participate in spot rounds. Some common scenarios are:

1. *Seat Surrender:* In some cases, candidates may be required to surrender their previously allocated seat if they choose to participate in the spot round. If they do not get a seat in the spot round, they may lose their previously allocated seat as well.

2. *Dual Reporting:* Some universities allow candidates to participate in spot rounds without surrendering their previously allocated seat. In such cases, if a candidate gets a seat in the spot round, they can choose between the new spot round seat and the previously allocated seat.

3. *Automatic Retention:* Certain universities automatically retain the previously allocated seat for candidates participating in spot rounds. If the candidate does not get a seat in the spot round, they will continue with the previously allocated seat.

Remember that spot rounds are usually conducted after all regular counseling rounds are completed, and they are meant to fill any remaining vacant seats. Participation in spot rounds is generally optional and depends on the candidate's preference and willingness to take the risk of potentially losing the previously allocated seat.

Aspirants need to pay INR 40,000 as a participation fee for NCHMCT JEE counselling 2023.  Through centralised online counselling of NCHMCT JEE 2023, shortlisted candidates will be allotted seats in 21 Central Institutes of Hotel Management, 27 State Government Institutes of Hotel Management, 01 Public Sector Undertaking and 29 Private Institutes of Hotel Management.

Candidates are informed that admission to BSc Hospitality and Hotel Administration course is done strictly on the basis of a candidate’s All India Rank (AIR) in NCHMCT JEE. There will be no separate group discussion or interview round conducted for admissions. Basis a candidate's rank and minimum qualifying marks,  NCHMCT JEE cut-offs are prepared.
