B.Tech in Information Technology course, applicants are required to have a minimum of 45% in 12th grade. Candidates must pass the entrance examination to be eligible for admission in undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The application forms gets distributed in the first week of January, and the entrance examination results are released in May. The university accepts the TNEA entrance exam for admissions, and the cutoff ranks for various B.Tech specializations are provided based on the TNEA exam results.

The latest cutoff information on B.Tech admissions at Kalasalingam University according to the rank scored is 95612, candidates securing an equivalent rank are eligible to get admission in the university.The cutoff marks although keeps changing every year based on the students which applied for the exam and the difficulty of the exam. The general cutoff however remains the same which is a minimum of 250 marks.

The university's B.Tech placements are very good. The highest package stood at 30 LPA and average package was Rs. 4.50 LPA. There were 1650 students who got placed by DELL, HCL, INFOSYS, ICICI Bank etc.
