Kannur University BCom admission is subject to fulfilment of the preset eligibility criteria. As per the official brochure, aspirants must fulfil the following eligibility criteria before applying for admission:
- A pass in the Higher Secondary Examination of the state/ Class 12 from any recognised board/ any other examination accepted by the University as equivalent thereto;
- Candidates from Non-Commerce streams must have scored at least 45% aggregate in the qualifying examination

The selection criteria for Diploma in Tulu at Kannur University is merit-based. The university selects students for admission based on their merit in Class 12 and Bachelor's degree. The following are the requirements for admission to the Kannur University's B.Tech program:
Educational Requirement: Candidates must have passed a recognised board's 10+2 (or equivalent) exam.
Required Subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics must be included as core subjects in the qualifying exam.
Minimum Grades: Students in the reserved category must receive at least 40% of their possible points in mathematics, physics, and chemistry.
Admission is determined by how well a candidate does on the Kerala Commissioner of Entrance Examinations' KEAM (Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical) entrance test.
