There is no centralized KMAT counselling process. Students who match the cutoff after the KMAT result announcement will be called by the participating institutes to take part in the counselling rounds. Students can choose their KMAT institute while filling the KMAT application form.

The following documents will be required during the KMAT Kerala counselling. Both photocopy and original documents will be required. Qualifiers must carry two copies of the original documents.
- KMAT Kerala scorecard/rank card
- KMAT Kerala admit card
- Class 10 mark sheet and Class 12 Marksheet
- Graduation mark sheet
- Cast certificate (if applicable)
- Transfer certificate
- Migration certificate
- Two recent coloured passport size photographs of the candidate

The KMAT counselling is conducted in online as well as offline mode. Candidates who have qualified for KMAT exam must register themselves online through the official website. However, the Personal Interview WAT/GD and document verification round under the counselling process is held offline at the designated helpline centres. Candidates who meet the KMAT cutoff, need to visit the centre for document verification as per their rank and other selection rounds such as PI and GD.
