Of these, 33 colleges are privately owned, 5 colleges are owned by public/government organisations, and public-private entities own 1 college. Some of the top Fashion Design colleges in Kolkata include NIFT Kolkata, J.D Birla Institute (JDBI), NSOU - Netaji Subhas Open University, Amity University, Kolkata, Sister Nivedita University, INIFD, Saltlake, Heritage Institute of Technology, etc.

Both GNLU Gandhinagar and NLU Kolkata are reputed law universities in India and are preferred by students. However, NLU Kolkata is better in terms of placement than the former.
Both universities accept entrance examination for admission in the respective course.
BSC.LLB at GNLU Gandhinagar is approximately INR 6 Lacs for the entire course.
BSC.LLB at NLU Kolkata is INR 3.66 Lacs approximately.
