Eligibility Of the Master of Science [M.Sc] (Agriculture)

How to Get Admission in Master of Science [M.Sc] (Agriculture)
The admission to the program is based on performance in the Entrance Examination and the academic record of the student in graduation.
Some of the Entrance Exams for M.sc in Agriculture is as follows:
AGRICET: Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University conducts a Common Entrance Test for admission to M.sc in Agriculture. The application forms are available online from May/ June and the exam is held in July.
ICAR AIEEA: ICAR conducts an All India Entrance Examination for Agriculture. The application forms are available online in February and the exam is held in April.
MCAER PG CET: The Maharashtra Council of Agriculture Education & Research holds a PG Common Entrance Test for various programmes, M.sc in Agriculture being one of them. The applications are available online in month of March and the examination is held in May.

Entrance Mode:
The top entrance exams for Master of Science in Botany are:
BHU Post Graduate Entrance Test: Held by Banaras Hindu University in May every year, it is a university level entrance test to take admission for Post Graduate programs at BHU. This test asks questions from Zoology, Chemistry and Botany.
Joint Entrance Test: Conducted every year by the University of Rajasthan in June, Joint Entrance Test is an entrance examination for admissions to postgraduate courses. Its syllabus covers Zoology, Chemistry and Botany.
SVUCET: This entrance examination is held in June every year by Sri Venkateswara University Common Entrance Test. This test covers questions from Zoology, Chemistry and Botany.
Selection Process:
Every institute follows a selection process of its own. Some of them take admissions on the basis of merit list. However, the others accept scores of entrance tests conducted by them.
Some universities proceed with the students who qualify the entrance exams and move them to next filtering stage that is a personal interview or group discussion round.
Further, some of the universities may undertake a comprehensive counselling procedure for final selection for admission to Master of Science in Botany.

For admission in Master of Science in Botany, all universities follow their own admission norms. For instance, University of Delhi prepares a merit list on the basis of which university's colleges offer admissions.
Most of the institutions have direct entry as admission mode. However, there are some universities which prefer to conduct entrance tests for admissions. Hence, the students who have appeared in final year examination of under-graduation and await the result are allowed to apply for the course by such institutions.

Selection :
Admission to all the courses in agricultural science are done through entrance examination. These exams are conducted by the concerned institute/university.
Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi conduct an entrance examination separately for graduate and postgraduate courses. The eligibility requirement for the exam is class 12th pass in science/agriculture with 50% for graduate-level courses, and 60% in B.Sc/B.Sc (Agriculture) for postgraduate level courses. Certain institutes admit students on the basis of the marks obtained in ICAR examination. ICAR also provide fellowship for all the students of postgraduate courses and for those students who've got Junior Research Fellowship during the entrance exam at the postgraduate level. Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), Delhi; Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar; National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal and Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai are some of the major institutes that conduct their own entrance examination.
