Admission to the LLM programme at GNLU is provided through merit and reservation policies, respectively. The intake of the total number of seats is filled through the CLAT PG exam, which admits candidates in order of merit. In the allocation process, it will include reservations to make sure there is representation from different sections of society. Candidates who get above the cutoff marks in the selection process are invited for counselling when the exam results are out, at which point candidates will fill up their choice of institutions according to their rank.

GNLU offers more than 400 seats for LLM course for the 2024 academic year. Candidates seeking admission to the LLM course must register for counselling in which seats are allotted to the eligible candidates. Once selected, they need to provide all the relevant documents for verification. The mentioned seat allotment is sourced from the official/ sanctioning body. It is inductive and hence, still subject to change.

The closing rank for the GNLU LLM 2024 programme in the category General All-India is 1267. Compared to the previous year, it increased notably from 2179. From this trend, one may observe that the cutoffs for GNLU Gandhinagar have slowly risen over the years, indicating increased competitiveness. In 2023, the closing rank for the LLM was 2179, while no closing rank for the same programme was available in the year 2022. Also, reflected is a graph in changes of admissions dynamics and the performance of candidates in the CLAT exam.
