Hello Nimi, India too has good institutes for aerospace engineering. If you are planning to study abroad Germany is the top destination besides Singapore, UK and USA.

You must hold a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. Since German universities are so competitive you must have very high academic grades. GRE or GATE is not mandatory but you can choose to take the tests. As an international student you must also take TOEFL or IELTS. German language knowledge will definitely help. German universities have two main intakes having the major deadlines during January and July. Since you have crossed the Jan deadline you can look forward to submit the applications by July for the next intake or winter intake to start from September depending on the university. 15th July is generally the deadline. Yes, it is but very competitive to get in.

If your MS is in English medium then you do not require to learn German language. For international students majority universities conduct induction programs where they will teach you basic German. However it will be good if you learn German Language in India. It will make you comfortable easily in German University.

Basis your grades chances are quite decent. Take the IELTS and also obtain a German language certification for better chances. You may also take the GRE but it is optional. Best of Luck.

MS in Germany will give you an International university exposure which will help you to build international career. I am of the opinion that if you are targeting international career, you may prefer MS in Germany over MTech at IIT.

With 57% marks in graduation, you have very limited chances in getting admission to a good German university. I would suggest you to prepare well for GATE examination and based on your success, evaluate different Institutes and specialization.
