If your PCM aggregate puts you at a VIT rank of up to 3,500, you can expect to get admission to Category 1.
If your rank was up to ~ 15,000, expect admission to Category 2 or 3 which have slightly higher fees but the opportunities of a seat in Software Engineering.

With a score of 96%, you have a good chance of being accepted to the Integrated M.Tech course at VIT Vellore. Just make sure you fill out your application correctly and submit all the documents they ask for, which will include age proof, nativity or category certificates, if applicable. If you clear the admission process, just participate in the merit-based seat allotment process.

At GATE XE socket 600, you stand a good chance of getting admissions into at least some IITs in the M.Tech course and specifically in interdisciplinary courses or opting under the same which considers XE, you have a better chance. Top branches at older IITs (such as CSE at IIT Video 00Bombay/Delhi) may be beyond the reach of a student, in which case, it is reasonable to consider IITs such as IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Ropar, IIT Bhubaneswar and IIT Jodhpur. If you want to get into the M.Tech in Control Systems Engineering course, you must give relevant engineering entrance exams at the PG level. Almost all of the top colleges need valid entrance exam scores to give admission to the course. You should study well for the exams and get excellent marks to grab a seat at top colleges.
You should go to the college websites of your preferred colleges to have better clarity about their admission procedure and requirements.

The IIT Kanpur M.Tech seat matrix includes 462 seats for the General category, 115 for EWS, 173 for SC, 87 for ST, and 312 for OBC. The cutoff for Civil Engineering varies based on specialization, but for Structural Engineering, it was around 540 for General, 480 for OBC/EWS, and 360 for SC/ST in the previous year,
