It vary from college to college but in most cases candidate must hold a B.E./B.Tech/ M.Sc degree in a relevant discipline like Food Science, Food Technology, Dairy Engineering, Agriculture Bachelor's degree in any of the following discipline like Food Process Technology/Home Science, Food Science and Nutrition/Food Science and Quality Control/Food Process Engineering /Food Processing Technology / Post Harvest Technology, Industrial & Applied Microbiology, Chemistry or equivalent. Minimum percentage acceptable for admission is 50% in most of the institutes in India.

Students with 75% and above marks in Graduation at KR Mangalam University are eligible for a 25% scholarship, applicable for CUET attempted students. Besides, the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) administers the MET exam, a university entrance exam, to candidates seeking admission to the institution's numerous undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Candidate must qualify for the MET exam to get admitted for the M.Tech course. The deemed score for MET 2024 is 180 out of 240. Besides MET, can who qualify for the Karnataka PGCET are also eligible for M.Tech at the Manipal School of Information Science.

MET 2024 candidates who score 180 out of 240 are deemed to have an excellent score. Besides, a candidate (General students) must have at least 50% marks in B.Tech to pursue an M.Tech from the Manipal School of Information Science. There is a little bit of relaxation for the reserved category students.
