Even you can take improvement exams only for three subjects of your HSC board, be it Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM), despite not taking the practical. Improvement exams are also held for the enhancement of selected subjects' scores of a student. But one has to check the rules of specific boards as some may require improvement for retaking practicals also. Since your results are not yet out, be prepared to apply for the improvement exams as soon as they are released, especially if you aim to meet the 75% criteria for IIT eligibility.
