B. Sc in Nautical Science is a 3-year undergraduate course which is split into 6 semesters. Each year consists of 2 semesters and contains a thoroughly practical approach to all the concepts of Nautical Technology.
Whereas, Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Marine Engineering is a 4-year undergraduate course which is split into 8 semesters. Each year contains 2 terms, with each term a minimum of 6 subjects or more depending on the university.

B.Sc. in Nautical Science Eligibility Criteria:
* Candidate must have cleared 10+2 or any equivalent examination from a recognized board or university.
* The candidate must be from the science stream with compulsory subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
* The candidate must have scored a minimum aggregate score of least 60% (55% in some institutes) at 10+2 level.
* Clearing an entrance exam conducted by the Maritime Institute as approved by the DGCA is mandatory in order to get admission.
* There are a host of physical and medical requirements and tests that also need to be met if a candidate wishes to pursue the course.

Yes, you can pursue marine engineering after Diploma in mechanical. Candidates who have completed a Diploma in any stream of Engineering (Marine, Mechanical and Electrical) with 55-60% in final year can join the B.Tech. Course from the 2nd year as part of the Lateral Entry scheme.
