Based on the result of SET exam and the interview, the ideal annual intake is 120 students. Normally this number doesn't change. Annually it is 120 students only. Apart from this, Candidates may apply for admission if they have earned their 10+2 (or 10+3 Diploma authorised by State Board of Technical Education) in any discipline from any recognised Board, Council, or University with a minimum of 50% (45% for SC/ST) aggregate marks, or comparable grades.

The college is strict when it comes to dress code. It says only collar t shirts are allowed but anything which is not too revealing and not sleeveless with work. Torn jeans are not allowed here. Decent clothes are expected and if not followed by anyone, then the entire batch is asked to wear SCMC t - shirts which are provided by the college.

Candidate must have graduated from a nationally recognised university or institution with at least 50% overall (45% for members of the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes). For SNAP, the overall cutoff is the 73 percentile. A good exam percentile can guarantee a call from the PI. With a percentile of 70 and a SNAP score of 45, you should pass the initial round of selection and how well you perform in your interview will determine the next step.

For admission here, there is an exam conducted – SET which is like any other competitive exam. The exam also has a section of WAT – writing ability test. Once the exam is cleared and if you are shortlisted, the college then conducts a PI round – Interview. Based on that one can get admission at SCMC.

College life at SCMC is both hectic and fun. It becomes hectic because the entire semester/year is very tightly packed. There are classes each day, not much holidays are there. During summer vacation, students are required to do internships, after a point of time it feels like there is no personal time. But the college is good because of the events held here – very informative and entertaining. Also the practical knowledge provided here makes learning fun.
