Get your basics correct, I mean class 10th – class 11th the level of basics. Language skills would also assist you, and knowing GK as well.

If the eligibility mentions CMAT, then no matter what the college will consider your application. If it doesn't mention CMAT, then the college is not going to give an exception for you.
