Admission to the B.Sc in Hospitality and Hotel Administration at IHM Shillong is done as per the scores obtained in the National Council of Hotel Management and Catering Technology Joint Entrance Exam conducted centrally. For admission to UG Diploma courses, admission is based on marks obtained in the 10+2 examination for which candidates have to be pass-outs with compulsory English.

The tuition fees for a Bachelor of Science in hospitality and hotel administration at IHM Shillong are about:
- First Year: INR 70,000 - INR 80,000
- Second Year: INR 80,000 - INR 90,000
- Third Year: INR 90,000 - INR 1,00,000
Adding up, this is approximately INR 2,54,000 for the full course. Although higher as compared to some colleges, the fee is in tune with relatively better quality and placement facilities, which might prove satisfactory to a large number of students.

Other courses are also taught in IHM Shillong, but mainly the best one among them is the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Hotel Administration. It is a three-year course that prepares students for appropriate skills on supervisory levels in the hospitality sectors, be it Food Production, Service, or Hotel Management. It is basically recognised because of its well-rounded curriculum with excellent placement opportunities.

IHM Shillong is famed for its good placements, high percentage of placement, and the top recruiters are Oberoi Group, Le Meridien, Taj Group, Hyatt, and ITC Hotels. The highest salary offered is around INR 35,000 per month, with an average package of INR 1.8 LPA. Placement training is provided by the IHM Shillong, and for better placement, the students are given career counseling in their dream jobs within the hospitality industry.

The cutoff rank for the year 2024 for the IHM (Institute of Hotel Management), Shillong with respect to NCHMCT JEE is 6115 for round 1 and 9829 for round 2 for all students belonging to general category

No, it cannot be compared with IHM shillong for B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration, as IHM Shillong placements, experience, and exposure are far better than SIHM Durgapur. IHM Shillong has an average placement rate of 90%. Big hotel brands like Leela, Taj, and Oberoi visit the campus for placements. Students also get placements. The highest salary offered was Rs. 35,000 per month. The lowest salary offered was Rs. 15,000 per month.
