Applicants need a minimum GPA of 2.0 or above which means Western Michigan University accepts below-average students.If the students don’t have the required GPA, they must submit additional proofs demonstrating their academic records. The university also considers factors of consideration for applicants as follows.

  • Cumulative college GPA (from all institutions attended)

  • The trend of recent semester grades

  • Number of college-level courses completed.

A score of 6.5 & above is required for IELTS in University of Michigan-Dearborn for indian students for all the courses.

Some other minimum scores required to demonstrate English proficiency are as follows:

  • A minimum score of 105 on the Duolingo English test
  • A minimum score of 79 on the Internet-Based TOEFL

MTU has two intake seasons: Spring (January Start Date) and Fall (August Start Date). There is no application fee for students if they apply through the university's official portal. However, if they opt to apply through the common application, then they must pay an amount of USD 50 (might vary; would suggest students to check before applying). For Postgraduate courses the application fee is USD55 however the application fee might be different depending on the course.

For undergraduates, the UM-Flint offers merit scholarships for international students based on their ACT or SAT scores and GPA. However, these test scores are not required for admission but are necessary for a scholarship.
