The batch of 2017 from mining engineering of Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology was left without a job and so the branch offers hundred percent placements in the college. Some of the companies that show up for the placement drive, especially for recruiting mining engineers, along with the number of students recruited in the same company are:

ZS Associates-1
Mu sigma-1
Infosys-1

MOIL Ltd-5

NIT, Surathkal is one of the top NITs and is known across the India. According to the National Institutional, Ranking Framework NIT, Surathkal ranks 22nd among the engineering colleges in India. For mining engineering, last year (2016-17) out of 32 students who applied for placements from mining department 21 students were placed meaning 65 percent placement for mining which is quite a good number for mining engineering. For mining engineering, the minimum salary offered was Rs 3.3 Lacs per annum. The average salary was Rs 5.6 Lacs per annum and the maximum salary was Rs 9.3 Lacs per annum.

The Chhattisgarh have Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya as central University, does not have the Mining and metallurgy engineering courses. However the following colleges have Mining course as listed below.
1. Government Engineering College, Bilaspur
2. Rungta College of Engineering and Technology, Bhilai
3. Government Engineering College, Jagdalpur
4. MM College of Technology, Raipur.
