It's indeed great to hear from you that you are interested in doing your engineering in mining branch. Mining perhaps has the best potential for employment in future. Evening/distance/online/part time engineering courses are not valid any more as per the latest supreme court verdict, hence would recommend you to join regular B.Tech course for better career prospects

It depends on how many seats are vacant there. If there are 60 seats vacant in the second year then there are a total of 60 seats for lateral entry students.
