The National Institute of Design will release schedule for NID DAT 2026 counseling on its admission portal soon after DAT Mains results are declared.

Eligible candidates seeking admission to the B.Des program has to submit campus preferences.

The 1st round of seat allotment for B.Des program will be announed around the last week of May 2026. Note that the seat allotment for the M.Des program will be announced in April 2026.

The counseling process will be conducted online and include one or more seat allotment rounds.

A. The counseling fee for NID that is the same for all categories. Gen, Gen EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD candidates participating in NID counseling have to pay INR 30,000. However, Overseas candidates have to pay a counselling fee is INR 75,000. The fee can be paid via online mode only and is excluding the continence fee. The token fees for the B. Des programme has to be paid from May 25-26, 2023. Meanwhile, the counselling fees for the M.Des programme have to be paid from May 16-19, 2023.

In case, the candidate fails to report for the counselling, then his/ her candidature will be cancelled for that round. Such candidates, however, can still participate in the corresponding rounds. The only exception is for candidates who fails to attend the counseling in the last round. In such a case, the candidate will no longer be considered for admission. The counseling for NID that 2024 will be conducted separately for B. Des and M.Des courses.

Also, note that B.Des candidates will have to submit campus preferences as part of the counseling registration process.

If the fee payment window is closed by the institute, you are not eligible to participate in the admission process. Your seat will now be allocated to the next qualifying candidate in the order of merit. For the B. Des programme, the token fees have to be paid from May 25-26, 2023. Meanwhile, for the M.Des programme, the fees have to be paid between May 16 & 19, 2023. The provisional seat allotment letters for candidates who have paid the fees will be available in the 1st week of June 2023.

No, once a candidate pays the token fee, NID will not refund it under any circumstances. So, candidate must pay the seat acceptance or token fee if they have finalized their admission. Also, note that token fees have to be paid by candidate only if he or she has been allocated a seat. Also, if candidate fails to pay the token fees, seat allocation will be cancelled. These vacant seats will then be filled in the next counselling round.

The National Institute of Design (NID) conducted the counseling registration for NID that 2023 for the B.Des program from May 19-22, 2023. B.Des candidates who were shortlisted for counseling had to submit campus preferences as part of the registration process. The campus entry must be in the order of priority,. Cut-off for NID DAT will be prepared based on factors like total number of applications, seat intake for the applied programme, category under which admission is sought, and merit rank of the applicant in NID DAT 2026. Each of these factors are variables. For example, number of applications may vary from one category to another. Cut-off would also vary. The cut-off represents the minimum marks a candidate needs to secure in his or her category to get admission to the B. Des or M.Des programme.

Minimum qualifying criteria for NID DAT are the minimum marks candidate needs to secure for admission. The category-wise cut-off would be released at the time of counseling and seat allotment. Cut-off would be prepared by considering factors like total number of applicants, merit ranks of applicants in NID DAT, seat intake of applied programme, etc.

No, NID Entrance Exam cutoff is released separately for the various categories. For instance, the cut-off is available for categories like Open, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PH categories. Note that open category candidates will not be considered for admission under reserved category seats. However, candidates belonging to reserved category will be considered for admission under both open and the reserved category they belong to.
