National Institute of Design, Gandhinagar Eligibility

Candidates need to complete a MDes degree from an accredited institution or recognised university of India to apply for NID Gandhinagar PhD course. Aspirants who have passed MPhil Design from a recognised institution or university of India are also eligible to apply for PhD programme. 

Candidates with Master of Architecture/ Fine Art/ Applied Art or BDes from NID with three-year professional or teaching experience can also apply.

Candidates need to have a valid bachelor's degree of a minimum four years duration or equivalent from a recognised university to apply for NID Gandhinagar MDes course. Aspirants with full-time Diploma of a minimum of four years in Design, Fine Arts, Applied Arts or Architecture after Class 12 can also apply for MDes. Candidates belonging to General or General-EWS category must be born on or after Jul 1, 1993 to apply for MDes.

To be eligible for M.Des at NID Gandhinagar, candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree or a full-time Diploma in Design, Fine Arts, Applied Arts, or Architecture with a minimum of 60% marks. Those with a Bachelor's Degree with 55% marks and a strong portfolio may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Applicants must be under 32 years old for the DAT and 33 years old for GATE. A strong portfolio showcasing design skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities is crucial. Additional eligibility criteria apply for specific specializations.
